I love bringing captivating stories to life.

People are my biggest inspiration. I’m deeply passionate about them, some might even say obsessed. That’s why my work is all about people: their idiosyncrasies, tendencies and personas. What motivates me is my endless fascination with people and my passion for cinema, humour & the arts. I’m always curious and feel the need to make an image which explore the stories around me.

Having an enthusiasm for travel, the image stories I create are often quite diverse. The people, the sounds, the cultures, the colours, all those differences I’ve discovered from my 15 years of exploring the globe, have certainly influenced me and put their mark on my photography.

I’m also drawn to eccentricity. I love that way of expressing individuality and breaking away from the conformity of mainstream society. I admire people who are not afraid to be themselves, even if that means being different or unconventional.

I find there’s much humour in the ridiculousness of certain manifestations of eccentricity. The quirks and idiosyncrasies of unusual people are a rich source to tap into and I often incorporate these characters into my personal work. It’s a fresh outlook, my passion and enthusiasm for the purest form of expressive photography that I cherish. I use it to push my creativity forward and find that the images often feed back into my commercial work.

I frequently get asked what makes a good portrait. I think a solid foundation comes from making a strong connection with the sitter - being able to make them feel comfortable and at ease. Then, from that base point, working together to bring out the character and essence of that person. I’m constantly searching for that subtle hint of drama in peoples personalities and fascinated with peeling back the layers in front of me to discover something emotionally engaging.

What makes my work unique is a blend of that fascination with discovering engaging emotional aspects with a subtle hint of drama, combined with an expressive use of colour and a sensitive handling of light. I have a deep understanding of human nature and I’m able to connect with people from all walks of life. For me, it's all about creating a relaxed environment on set that allows beautiful, emotive and genuine moments to happen organically.

I truly relish being challenged by a brief, collaborating with a creative team, and using my imagination to bring that idea to life.

I live in London and based out of my Hoxton studio, yet I follow my work around the world.
